Senior
Braves Tied in their best of three B Pool Final Vs Winnipeg
South Chiefs
Following
a 5 - 3 loss Tuesday night. Pitcher Jason Miller went the complete
game, giving up
only one earned run with the rest scoring on defensive lapses by the
tribe. The Braves took
an early 2 - 0 lead into the bottom of the second inning where the
Chiefs tied it up with
one earned run & an additional unearned run. The Chiefs
scored three more unearned runs
in the fourth inning on successive errors in the infield. The
Braves did fight back, loading the bases
in the top of the fifth only to come up empty. They loaded
the bases again with one out in the
seventh where they punched in a run leaving the bases loaded with
one out for Trevor Gray.
Unfortunately a ground out double play ended the hopes for a comeback. The
third and deciding
game goes 5 PM, Monday, Sept 6th at Dugald.

Final 2 - 1 Vs Charleswood Selects
In
an outstanding final series the Braves came back from an opening game
one 4 - 2 loss to win a
doubleheader on the road in Charleswood! Starting pitcher
Erik Olson went seven complete innings
to record a 1 - 0 shutout victory in game two. Olson went on
to start the second game, leaving after
two innings trailing 6 - 2. Reliever Curtis (Arbuckle) Joyal came
on to pitch into the seventh inning
leaving with an 8 - 6 lead. Reliever Zak Tabin recorded the
save getting the last two outs in the
seventh to preserve the victory.
The Braves survived a near fatal second inning where they surrendered
6 runs to relinquish an early
2 - 0 lead. But with Joyal holding the fort, the Braves stormed
back to score 1 run in the third on
a solo shot by catcher Tim Malazdrewich, and then 5 more in the top
of the sixth inning. Charleswood
was unable to answer back in their final two innings at the plate
and the Braves claimed the cup for the
second time in their three year history !!!
